Structurally Speaking

A National Juried Exhibition

Clifton Springs, NY – The press and public are invited to attend the opening reception for Structurally Speaking at Main Street Arts on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 4 to 7p.m. Structurally Speaking is a national juried exhibition with a focus on structure, both natural and human-made. The exhibition features paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture and more by 30 artists from around the country with 16 US states represented.

The jurors of this exhibition are Peter Gabak and Joanna Poag.
Peter is an architectural historian and a faculty member at RIT and Joanna is a sculptural ceramic artist, a faculty member at Roberts Wesleyan College, and the studio manager at Genesee Pottery in Rochester. Joanna will also be featured in the upcoming Upstate NY Ceramics Invitational at Main Street Arts in July.

From the Jurors…
“A juried exhibition comes with many expectations and questions. Both juror as well as artist have preconceived notions about the selection process and desired artistic qualities. Main Street Arts’ Structurally Speaking exhibition will break any and all of these preconceived notions!" — Peter Gabak

"Structurally Speaking was a delight to jury. As people who actively study structure and order in their own work, choosing pieces that consider the same concept under different mediums and compositions was refreshing to us." — Joanna Poag
