What is Broomball???
Have you ever dreamed of playing hockey, but don't know how to skate? This is your chance to enjoy this Canadian recreational ice game, without needing hockey skates or skating skill. Broomball is played on an outside ice rink, with everyone wearing regular shoes or boots. Players use a broom (literally) to push a ball down the court and into a hockey net. Our Winter Carnival Broomball Tournament...
...will be played on the ice court(s) by the White Lake Inn. It will be a 5-on-5 (including goalies) team tournament, open to everyone ages 14 or older, with a referee (stripes and all). Teams can include up to 9 people, to allow for substitutions. We'd like to see at least one female on the ice from each team at all times.
We will provide the brooms, balls, nets, referee, and prizes! You must provide a helmet (required), and regular shoes or boots. Shin and elbow pads are recommended. Team uniforms, songs, and mascots are optional! You can bring your own broom if you like, subject to the referee's approval.
Each game will consist of 2 15-minute halves (running clock), with an overtime shootout if required.
