Edition n°28 | April - May - June 2016
Editorial
Dear partners, dear readers,

At the first World Humanitarian Summit, in which the Principality of Monaco took part, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, urged the international community to halve the number of displaced people by 2030, and to find more effective long term solutions for refugees and displaced populations, in compliance with humanitarian law.

On 20th June, on the occasion of World Refugee Day, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees informed us for the first time since it was created that the threshold of 60 million refugees had been exceeded: in 2015  there were 65.3 million people worldwide who were forced to flee their country, 51% of whom children*. A critical situation to which the Government of Monaco has reacted at its own level.

In a completely different vein, June was marked by an innovative and unifying action implemented by the Office of International Cooperation in partnership with Babyloan: the Monegasque State’s Solidarity Challenge. For one month the members of the State services joined forces to select micro entrepreneurs who will receive funding from the Monegasque Cooperation.

I hope you enjoy reading this issue and have a lovely summer.
