How two women are helping underserved communities navigate the pandemic. As community navigators, Vicky Navarro and Thyda Ros help distribute information and supplies to marginalized communities that often face barriers to these things. By addressing language barriers, distrust of the vaccines, and government, the hope is to decrease the disparities of the effects of COVID-19 on these communities. (South Seattle Emerald)
Local response to Georgia shootings. Both Mayor Jenny Durkan and Interim Police Chief Adrian Diaz denounced the shootings as a hate crime and will be increasing outreach to Asian American communities and organizations. Another mayoral candidate to add to the list. Jessyn Farrell announced her candidacy on Thursday joining former councilmember Bruce Harrell and current council president Lorena Gonzalez, among others. Farrell is a former state representative and was the executive director of one of the state’s leading transit advocacy groups. (Crosscut)
