💉 Sue and Meg give it their best shot

Plus: Another mayoral candidate to add to the list.

Happy Friday!

In a sea of grim news, one thing made me smile yesterday. Power couple Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe volunteered at the new mass vaccination site at Lumen Field on Tuesday, greeting people. I honestly didn’t think getting the COVID-19 vaccine could sound even more appealing, but here we are

In today’s newsletter: A new burger joint is set to come to Capitol Hill, the last day for our giveaway, and Evergrey Extra members get their weekend guide.

Ditch TJ’s Masala burger and get ready for Bombay Burger. The restaurant will offer an Indian take on the American classic forgoing beef for alternative fillings. It will join Capitol Hill’s other burger joints — Li’l Woody’s, Dick’s, Little Big Burger, and 8oz Burger. (Capitol Hill Seattle Blog

How two women are helping underserved communities navigate the pandemic. As community navigators, Vicky Navarro and Thyda Ros help distribute information and supplies to marginalized communities that often face barriers to these things. By addressing language barriers, distrust of the vaccines, and government, the hope is to decrease the disparities of the effects of COVID-19 on these communities. (South Seattle Emerald)

Local response to Georgia shootings. Both Mayor Jenny Durkan and Interim Police Chief Adrian Diaz denounced the shootings as a hate crime and will be increasing outreach to Asian American communities and organizations. Several local Asian American women shared their own stories and reactions to the events. (The Seattle Times)

Another mayoral candidate to add to the list. Jessyn Farrell announced her candidacy on Thursday joining former councilmember Bruce Harrell and current council president Lorena Gonzalez, among others. Farrell is a former state representative and was the executive director of one of the state’s leading transit advocacy groups. (Crosscut)
