☀️ Talking about the good stuff
Plus: Last-minute gift ideas.
Hey, hey, it’s Thursday.
We’re about to head out for holiday break which means you’ll see us just a few times in your inbox until Jan. 5 when we’re back to publishing as usual.
Let’s be honest, it’s been a weird, difficult, and stressful year. Between a global pandemic, smoke up and down the West Coast, and the end of Schitt’s Creek, who would’ve thought we’d make it through to 2021 (mostly) sane and in one piece. So before we wrap up 2020, we want to highlight some high notes from all of you.
Read on for a dose of serotonin.

Suffice to say, we’re all going to remember 2020. It’s easy to remember the bad stuff. But what were the good things that happened this year?
Here’s what we heard from all of you …
🏡 "2020 has been crazy, but it is going to end wonderfully! I had been waiting on a job I got eight months ago but because of COVID, it got put on hold. I recently just started it and couldn't be happier! On top of that, my fiance and I bought our first house and will be closing on it this week. There are always lots of things to be thankful and faithful for!" — Katie B.
🐶 "I’m getting a puppy!" — @carl_sue
👶 "I had a baby! And he is positively splendid." — @omnommon25
😻 "As an older, single adult I enjoy living alone. Last year, I retired and moved to Seattle to be close to one of my sons. I love it here but unfortunately, after traveling last January, I came home a week before the "lock-down.” In the beginning, I felt isolated. Last June, when I turned 75, my three children decided I needed a pet. I didn't want a dog but a cat sounded nice. As I'm allergic to most cats, they found a Siberian Cat. Oh, my what an amazing cat she is. She follows me all around the house, sleeps on the other pillow (most of the time, she likes to steal mine), and she cuddles and purrs with might. I am totally in love with 'Cookie' and so grateful to my wonderful children for sending her to me." — Pat E.
💍 "Got engaged!!" — @jesigriffin
❤️ "Let me start by saying there was a lot of bad that happened this year: dealing with PTSD and depression; the loss of my grandpa and great-grandpa; the end of a close friendship; the loss of my job due to the pandemic, followed by seven months of rejected applications, and then the endless stress and fear over the pandemic, politics, and the state of the world. However, (and I can only say this now that the year is almost over) so much good came from all that bad. I have had so much time for self-reflection and self-growth, which has allowed me to develop old skills and pick up new ones. This will definitely go down as a defining year in my life, and I am stronger for it." — Michaela M.
🎓 "I got my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction." — @jenennap
🐣 "We welcomed our fourth grandchild into our family!" — Debra J.
🖼 "I was alone between the end of February and mid-May (my husband got stuck visiting our daughter in Italy during that time — that’s a whole other story!). During my alone time, I took out all my collage-making scraps and made several pieces. It was very satisfying — and distracting!" — Lisa B.
🍼 "The birth of our first baby in September was definitely the brightest spot in 2020 for me. I love it when he smiles at me. Almost makes me forget the dumpster fire of a year 2020 has been (besides the Biden/Harris win of course!)." — Marisa V.
💼 "Two promotions." — @laurel_alexis
👋 "Moved to Seattle!" — @photograbri13
Big things, little things, healthy habits, good news — thank you for sharing your stories with us and helping us send off this year on a happier note.
