What Orlando is talking about

⛔️ Could local businesses face fines for requiring employees to get a COVID-19 vaccine? If it’s up to the Florida House, yes: state lawmakers approved a bill outlining as much and pushed by Gov. Ron DeSantis during Wednesday’s special legislative session. As of writing, HB 1B, is on its way to the Florida Senate.  The measure passed the House on a 78-39 vote mostly along party lines, with Republicans collectively in favor and all but one Democrat opposed. 🍯 Sister Honey’s has the best dessert in the world. No really, it’s true: The SoDo-based bakery just took home first place in the dessert category at the World Food Championships for the third year in a row. That’s what Orlando Sentinel food writer Amy Drew Thompson calls a PIE-fecta! This year’s winning recipe? A Blueberry Blast Pie. (Orlando Sentinel, Amy Droo on Instagram

🏬 Fashion Square Mall might look a lot different very soon. Tampa-based architects Baker Barrios released preliminary redevelopment plans to the City of Orlando’s Municipal Planning Board for review, and if approved, the view would be quite different from what Orlandoans have grown accustomed to. You can see the plans for yourself at the link. 👉 (Bungalower

Calling all stargazers: You can see the lunar eclipse of the century from here... if you can stay up until 3 a.m. UCF is hosting a viewing opportunity on its main campus from 3-4:30 a.m. tonight... or is it morning? 😕 (UCF Today

🛣 There’s a new street in Downtown Orlando and Florida A&M University is celebrating. On Wednesday, the school celebrated 20 years at its downtown location by unveiling its new street name: FAMU Law Lane. It replaces Beggs Avenue, the street the college is on, right between Robinson and Washington in Orlando’s Parramore community. (WKMG

🚢 Disney Cruise Lines made waves yesterday with a major announcement: Starting Jan. 13, all passengers ages 5 and older will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 before setting sail. You can read all about the fine details by clicking on the link. 👉 (WESH)

😷 Universal Orlando team members vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer be required to wear masks. The theme park updated its policy on Wednesday and said vaccinated workers will not be required to wear masks "onstage, backstage, indoors, or outdoors,” but can continue wearing a mask if they prefer.
