3 things to know today
💨 Longtime Oregon Republican Knute Buehler is ditching the GOP. Running his local campaigns on the basis of a “moderate” Republican stance, Buehler told KGW he doesn’t “even know what the Republican Party stands for.” He went on to add that events in January, such as the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection where pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, influenced his decision to leave. Get the rest of the story here from KTVZ.
💬 Rose City Antifa released a statement clarifying its stance on recent local protests. The antifascist organization has been around since 2007 and reached out to local media to address common misconceptions about the group and where things currently stand for them. The full statement can be found at the end of this Willamette Week article.
💉 COVID-19 vaccines will soon be available at Oregon pharmacies. Safeway, Albertsons, and Costco locations will be able to administer the vaccine. Right now, plans are in place for Oregon senior citizens over the age of 80 to get vaccinated next. Check out the latest COVID-19 case numbers (and vaccination numbers) here.
