😷 King County wants you to keep wearing your mask

Plus: Here’s what you said about Seattle’s BBQ.

It’s Wednesday, folks.

I asked and you answered. Yesterday, I put out a call for Seattle’s best BBQ joints in response to this ranking which proclaimed that our city was one of the best in the nation for the type of cooking. Here’s what some of you said:

“I'm a former Texan and maybe it's just been way too long since I've had BBQ in my old home state, but I've always thought Jack's BBQ and Wood Shop BBQ offered great Texas-style food. I also enjoy Lady JayeLil Red. And now I am hungry.” — Trace R.

“As a transplanted southerner, I may have some opinions on BBQ — it is NOT just cooking with sauce on a grill! While our city may never be renowned for its smokers, when I get a craving, I turn to Briley’s or Jack’s, or Junebaby for a splurge.” — Erika W.

“The vast majority of ‘bbq’ here is pulled pork soaked in sauce and is cafeteria food. Jeff’s Texas Style in Marysville is the only good stuff I’ve had here. They do it the old style: make it and serve until you run out. Ballard’s selections were unseasoned and meant to be soaked with sauce to give any taste. Good luck on your quest. They mean well. Bless their hearts.” — VJ

Hope we didn’t make you too hungry. Keep scrolling for the headlines.

☀️ICYMI: The city extended free outdoor dining permits until May 2022 and the state is officially allowing bars to offer free booze to vaccinated folks. The city council voted to keep the popular outdoor program and are exploring how they might make it permanent. (Eater Seattle)

One more thing …

Last week Danielle B. wrote in saying she loved this part of Wednesday’s outro and asked if there was a playlist of the songs I’m listening to. Well, because the news that I’m slowly inoculating all my readers with my tastes made me so happy, I went ahead and put together a Spotify playlist of all the songs I’ve listed here. I’ll also shout out Rich A. who wrote in saying he tried last week’s recipe and that we might just have to start an Evergrey cooking club! Now that’s something I’d be into...

🍴 Cooking: Shrimp tempura sushi (I always buy frozen shrimp tempura and keep it in the freezer for sushi or tacos)

📺Watching: Booksmart (for the eighth time)

🎧Song on repeat: Juan Wauters — “Locura”

Thanks for being so great. We’ll be back tomorrow.
