Plus, I Spy location revealed!

What’s up? It’s Thursday.

If you follow us on our socials (which if you’re not, what are you doing?), you may know we had a small technical snafu at the beginning of the week.

In order to make up for our error, we asked folks to DM us and tell us a business or event they wanted us to shout out — and PDX Youth Philharmonic reached out. So get your calendars ready for April 10 with the PDX Youth Philharmonic Fest, where the Orchestra Strikes Back. The concert will be virtual, with premieres of 10 brand new works composed by women and musicians of color.

Tickets are pay-what-you-can, and you can learn more on their website

For today’s news: Why Multnomah County is going “moderate,” Portland and gun violence, food on a stick, and some fuzzy close ups.

Our Bridgeliner Unabridged members are wrapping up this week's I Spy challenge — Bridgeliner Bragging Rights are on the line. Wanna join the fun? Become a member today.

Let's dive in.

3 things to know today

📉 Starting Friday, Multnomah County will drop from ‘high’ to ‘moderate’ in COVID-19 risk level. This will allow “more people at indoor businesses such as restaurants and gyms,” according to a report from KGW. This decrease, in addition to other state counties, has Oregon health experts feeling optimistic — especially with an increase of allocated vaccines.  Some speculate that there could be enough vaccines for 70% of adult Oregonians by April 21. Gov. Kate Brown was buoyed by the news, and urged Oregonians to keep up the good work

🚨Portland saw its 20th homicide of 2021 on Tuesday — and city officials are worried. A man was shot dead near Dawson Park in broad daylight, marking the 15th person to die from gun violence. Mayor Ted Wheeler said the situation has reached “crisis proportions” in an interview with KGW. Last year, Portland eliminated its Gun Violence Reduction Team, and last month, police launched a new team to address gun violence.

🗳️ Portland City Council is delaying a vote that would expand where houseless shelters can be built. This comes after pushback from East Portland residents concerned they will have to shoulder the brunt of living near more shelters than the west side of the city. The Shelter to Housing Continuum (S2HC) project language can be read in full here. The Portland Mercury has a breakdown of the rest here

3 things to make you smile

🍢 When in doubt, get your food on a stick. Especially if you find yourself at Ko Sisters food cart, where you can find delicious Seoul street food, ready to carry on your next adventure. You can snag your next Korean corn dog (half fish cake sausage and half gooey mozzarella cheese) here

🍀 Trying to figure out your 2021 St. Patrick’s Day plans? This list of virtual concerts and choirs will be music to your ears — in addition to the reopening of the Oregon Historical Society’s newest exhibit. Need more St. Paddy’s Day fun? The Unipiper will be celebrating virtually with the All-Ireland Cultural Society of Oregon on the day in question.

🐶 Our pets (or new coworkers) helped us get through 2020. And Willamette Week is celebrating that with their annual Pet Pageant. Peek at the cuteness here
