🚢 A ferry good reason to be on the Sound

Plus: Renters facing eviction now have the right to an attorney.

How you all doing this Wednesday?

Tired of the inconsistent weather? Seattle and I seem to be on the same page with this. Despite the forecast, which says it’s supposed to reach 60 degrees today, it looks like we’re in for more cold weather. This Reddit post sums up the standard Seattleite’s wardrobe nicely.

Here’s to hoping for some warm weather sooner rather than later — I cannot keep wearing shorts when I see the sun only to freeze for the rest of the day, it is too emotionally and physically taxing.

Enough about the weather — let’s get to the news.

What Seattle is talking about

Seattleites facing eviction now have the right to an attorney. The unanimous decision comes as the city hopes to keep to staunch the impending number of evictions that are expected when the moratorium is lifted at the end of June. Since the start of the pandemic, the houseless population has risen and many fear the numbers will be further exacerbated when landlords can take tenants to court. (Crosscut

Look out, there’s a new ferry in town. The passenger-only ferry began its first day of service on Monday morning, taking folks between Southworth and downtown Seattle. The 26-minute trip will save commuters from having to take a ferry to Fauntleroy and a bus or car trip downtown. You can find details on the schedule and fares on the Kitsap Transit site. Seattle Restaurant Week returns tomorrow. Once again, SRW will look a little different than its pre-pandemic iterations. Like this past fall, the month-long promotion is highlighting BIPOC and women-owned businesses with its searchable database and restaurants won't be charged to participate. You can look at the participating restaurants and if they’re offering dine-in and/or takeout here. (Eater Seattle)
