Plus: COVID-19 vaccines are on their way.

You made it to Friday!

December is flying by. For those counting down till Christmas — we are just a mere 14 days away. Hopefully, this means you’ve done your holiday shopping...but if not that’s totally OK because we’ve got a gift guide for every Seattleite on your list.

Also, we still want to hear about your 2020 bright spots. Some of you have gotten married, others started new jobs, and some are proud new pet owners. For me, it was finding solace in sourdough and getting to join this awesome community!

Reply to this email with what was a bright spot for you in this dumpster fire of a year. 🔥

And now let’s get to that news.

What Seattle is talking about

Brace yourselves, the vaccines are coming. The first 400,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in the Seattle area by next week. Where exactly they will be distributed is still unclear, but health care workers and first responders caring for COVID-19 patients will be at the front of the line. (KUOW)

Dry ice is about to be the next hot commodity. The new COVID-19 vaccines require being kept at very cold temperatures. Pierce County company Reliant Dry Ice is preparing for the critical role it will play in ensuring safe transportation of the vaccine. Right now, dry ice is the only natural product available to keep the vaccine stable during delivery. (KIRO 7)

These two women with WA roots are going to the moon. Anne McClain and Kayla Barron are two of 18 astronauts on the first “Artemis Team.” This means they will be candidates for becoming the first woman to set foot on the moon. The first crewed Artemis mission is scheduled for 2023. (GeekWire)

All we want for Christmas...are these cookies. Mariah Carey — the singer of everyone’s favorite Christmas song — has launched a cookie company and yes, you can get some here in Seattle. Order from their shop in South Lake Union and get them delivered. Easiest present to yourself (or someone else) EVER. (Eater Seattle)
