💩 Uh, so about that smell?
Plus, a very Orlando playlist
Hello and welcome to Tuesday, Orlando.
It’s a big day. COVID-19 vaccines are arriving in Orlando today. AdventHealth is getting 20,000 doses and will begin inoculating its frontline workers tomorrow. If things go accordingly with the Pfizer vaccine, then by the end of the month, Florida should have close to 1 million doses.
Meanwhile, just yesterday, the state’s resident death toll surpassed 20,000 people, while the U.S. hit an equally grim milestone of 300,000 deaths due to the coronavirus. Florida’s positivity rate is currently between 8.34 and 10.62 percent.
But a vaccine is here. And we’re curious: Will you get it? Let us know.
Now, let’s keep the news rolling, shall we?
Must. Keep. Going. | Thanks for the tag, @pulseofcfl. This photo seemed so relevant today as news of the vaccine reaching Orlando surfaced. Wanna see your photo here? Tag @pulptown to be featured in our IG of the day. (📸: @accupunctureabby, #️⃣: @pulseofcfl)
What Orlando is talking about
If you were hoping to pedal some swans at Lake Eola yesterday, you were sh*t out of luck, pun intended. A lake alert was issued by the city mid-afternoon due to increased levels of bacteria, aka E. coli. The city’s stormwater crews will spend the next few days monitoring the lake. (City of Orlando)
Former UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton committed to Florida State University over the weekend. The red-shirt senior made the announcement on Twitter on Sunday posing in an FSU jersey. (Orlando Sentinel)
The local’s favorite attraction Wild Florida lost several snakes in a fire Sunday morning. The fire started due to a heating device malfunction, killing all of the reptiles in the enclosure. (Orlando Sentinel)
State Attorney Aramis Ayala unveiled three new diversion programs for Orange and Osceola Counties with the first beginning yesterday. It’s a program that helps those caught driving with a suspended license by offering either an option to pay fees off over a six-month period or to take a six-month course, keeping offenders from falling behind on payments. The other two programs address combating human trafficking and underage drinking. 👉 (ClickOrlando)
You can catch a free concert (almost) every day at lunch on the lawn at the Dr. Phillips Center. The Frontyard Festival kicks off its new “Live and Local Lunch” music series tomorrow. Local acts will perform every Monday through Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and don’t worry about packing a lunch — local restaurants will be popping up too! (Orlando Weekly)
The annual Grandma Party Bazaar at Stardust Coffee might’ve been canceled this year due to COVID-19, but you can still shop its usual local makers for all their funky wares, vintage finds, and other goodies. Brendan from Bungalower said don’t sleep on artist Jon Napoles’s work! (Bungalower)

Orlando’s perfect playlist
We recently asked you all to help us make a proper Orlando playlist by telling us about a local musician who's been your go-to soundtrack this year. And 👏 you 👏 showed 👏 up 👏.
We got dozens of responses, and we're sharing a Top 24 (*in alphabetical order) with you today.
Here's the Orlando playlist you helped create. It's everything we hoped for.
Most importantly, if you like any of this music … buy it on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, or the musician’s own website — any way to support local artists who are having a really tough year with performing arts scenes everywhere essentially ground to a halt.

One more thing …
So here’s the thing, I’ll be taking some time off between now and the upcoming holiday. I had some unused vacation time and well, guess I’ll finally get around to cleaning out my junk drawers. That said, you won’t see Pulptown in your inbox tomorrow, but we will be there on Thursday and Friday, so you can save your tears. 🤗
And to all our faithful podcast listeners, sorry about yesterday. I’ve spent much of the last week feeling under the weather (read: absolutely crappy), so I wasn’t able to record yesterday’s podcast as planned. I’ll make it up to you next Monday and then will take a brief hiatus until Jan. 11. Don’t give up on me.
See you on Thursday, friends!
