✅ Attention: Washington state has officially reopened

Plus: You can smell like Russell and Ciara with these perfumes.

It’s Wednesday.

And we hope you’re recovering from the heat. Never before have I been so thankful for a gust of cold wind.

The unprecedented heat wave literally crumbled roads, and the human health impact won’t be known for weeks or months according to Jeff Duchin a health officer for Public Health — Seattle & King County.

While we’re glad we’ve made it through *fingers crossed* the worst of it this summer, we can’t help but be reminded this is the direct result of human-caused climate change. So, remember to be kind to our planet.

Let’s get to the news, shall we?

4 things Seattle is talking about

It’s officially the first day of Washington’s reopening. Yesterday marked the end of King County’s indoor mask mandate and today COVID-19 restrictions across the state will be lifted. This means businesses like restaurants, bars, churches, concert halls, and movie theaters will be able to open at full capacity. Individual businesses, however, may still impose their own standards like they always have. (Crosscut)

  • Related: The World Health Organization has urged unvaccinated AND vaccinated to continue wearing masks as well as taking other precautions as the new, highly infectious, Delta variant spreads. (The New York Times)

🎵  Grab tickets to these shows in July. Neumos officially reopens tomorrow, The Tractor Tavern on July 9 with a show from the Moondoggies, and The Neptune on July 10 with Dave B. (Editor’s note: We can’t help but recommend The Neptune’s show on July 31 considering all three acts have been featured as “Local Music Lowdown” musicians. 😉 )(Seattle Met)

💨   Wanna smell like Russell Wilson and Ciara? OK, so we may have missed the initial release of this perfume from the celebrity couple, but it was brought to our attention thanks to The Stranger. The R&C Fragrance Duo comes in bottles intertwined in a double-helix design bound together by magnets. “The Seahawk” is Russell’s scent while “The Princess” is Ciara’s; both are unisex and “designed for layering,” which I couldn’t tell you what that means. Do let us know if you try the perfumes for yourself though. (The Stranger)

🍦  Here’s a reason to get excited: Spice Walla will start serving its new Indian-inspired soft serve on Friday, exclusively at its Capitol Hill location. For the month of July,  they’re offering a Rose and Cardamom flavor. Afterward, they’ll rotate flavors like Watermelon and Fennel, Mango Lassi, and Pistachio Cardamom. (Capitol Hill Seattle Blog)

Did you know the last time the Mariners made it to the playoffs was 20 years ago? How about the fact that the team set the record for wins by an American League team that same season?

Each week we offer Evergrey Extra members the chance to participate in games of I Spy or trivia. While there are no prizes we give the winners a shoutout in the newsletter and hopefully teach y’all something new about the city.
