Hey there, and happy Tuesday to ya.

We’re looking at a rather short week ahead — short in that I’ll only be showing up in your inboxes today and tomorrow before I leave you for the week to (hopefully) enjoy some time off with some loved ones.

We’re going to get to the news that you might’ve missed over the weekend first, but then, we’ll take a much-deserved moment to reflect on why we’re thankful this year and what Pulptown readers shared they were thankful for. (Yes, even in 2021, year two of a global pandemic, there are reasons to be grateful.)

Let’s get to it, shall we?

Speaking of reasons to be thankful: blue skies and a high of 65.  📸: @charismaokeefe | Wanna see your photo here? Tag either #pulptown or @pulptown on Instagram to be featured as our IG of the Day!

What Orlando is talking about

👏 The Groveland Four has officially been cleared of any wrongdoing. A Lake County judge posthumously approved a series of motions that cleared the names of four Black men who were wrongfully accused of rape in 1949— an exoneration 72 years in the making. (WKMG

🙏 There’s a free turkey giveaway and flag football tournament going down at Barnett Park today. Starting at 4 p.m., local nonprofit Men's Closet will be hosting the family-friendly event. In addition to some good, clean flag football fun, there will be face painting for kids as well as canned goods and turkey available for anyone in need. (Orlando Weekly

💰 Eligible Parramore businesses can get a financial leg up courtesy of the City District’s new micro-grant initiative. Business owners can apply for up to $3,000 in funding for small-scale projects, including interior and exterior upgrades, technical assistance, equipment requirements, and more. The application deadline is set for Monday, Nov. 29. You can check out the posting here.  (Bungalower

🤞 There’s a new clinical trial for an aggressive form of cancer that’s showing promising results here in Florida. Dr. Sajeve Thomas, an oncologist and hematologist at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute, has been working on a treatment that shrinks tumors using cells from the patient’s body. “It looks to me to be a miracle if you didn’t know any better,” Thomas said. (WKMG

⛽️ Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says the state is considering relief options for surging gas prices. Speaking at a gas station in Daytona Beach yesterday, the governor said he’ll propose $1 billion in gas tax relief during the state legislature’s next session in January, which would come from suspending the state's 25 cents per gallon fuel tax. ⚖️ A federal judge has rejected Florida’s legal challenge to federal vaccine mandates for health care workers. U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers issued an order on Saturday denying a motion by Attorney General Ashley Moody requesting a preliminary injunction or temporary restraining order against the COVID-19 vaccination policy. The judge determined that the rule did not pose “irreparable harm” that would justify the court’s intervention. (WLRN)

What are you most thankful for, especially this year?

We posed that question to all of you, and there was no shortage of great answers. Here are a few of our faves …

🙌 “Friends, family, and my pup Kiwi — oh and my awesome neighborhood (Hourglass District)!” — Christina T.

💉 “Vaccines for kids” — Juliana C.

💘 “After 12 years, my husband and I got married a couple weeks ago! I’m so thankful for all the local vendors that made the day incredible and for all our friends who showed us the most love!” — Kenny E. 👇

💉 “I am grateful for the COVID vaccinations that have saved the lives of so many people. I only wish that everyone would get one so this horrible pandemic could end because people are still dying from COVID.”  — Gloria H.

“That I’m still breathing” — Scottie C.

🙏 “This month I was diagnosed with a significant medical issue, and it’s been a scary roller coaster ride of unknowns. In addition, another family member was also just diagnosed with the same issue (what are the odds… crazy). I am extremely grateful to my family and my husband — who is being a rock for me, but especially my posse of girlfriends, who are all showing up for me and checking in (and hitting happy hour with me!). I always loved them, but now I love them even more.”  — Milaura S.

🐶 “Here’s just one of the things I’m thankful for, my singing Covid pup, Linus!” — Molly H. 👇

💪 “I am thankful for having good healthcare (and I want a world where everyone can say the same). Also thankful for all the creative hustlers out there (hint hint!) who do what they love to build community and bring joy to themselves even though they may not have access to the same health care.” — Jody M.

☕️ “Coffee from Qreate Coffee + Studio — Airam D.
