Hey! You made it to Wednesday, and boy, are you in for a treat.

Today, we’re catching you up to speed on the latest food news that you need to know (you can thank me in the form of Khao Soi — more on that below 👇) including an update on what outdoor dining options are here to stay and what is changing come Aug. 1.

But first: Fusion Fest is looking for food and drink vendors for this year's event and you've got between now and Sept. 1 to submit an application. The annual two-day festival goes down on the Seneff Arts Plaza, aka the lawn of the Dr. Phillips Center, and is a great way to get to know local diverse eats and treats and people who make up this fine city of ours. (There's also a monthly dinner series that you should check out in the meantime where you get to try new cuisines. Next up: A taste of Africa at Flavors Nigerian. 🤤)

@paulasjamaicancuisine is a repeat vendor at Fusion Fest year after year, supplying the most delicious Jamaican flavors to #FusionFest since 2018. 📸:  @fusionfestorlando | Wanna see your photo here? Tag either #pulptown or @pulptown on Instagram to be featured as our IG of the Day!

Chew on this, Orlando.

🇹🇭 Let’s start with the best news first: Bangrak Street Kitchen, arguably Orlando’s most popular pop-up, is back in town and will be selling the goods (Khao Soi included) this Friday at Redlight Redlight starting at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, the popular Thai food pop-up is not permanent (wouldn’t that be lovely?!), but word on the street is that you can expect good news from them between now and late August at least. 🎉 Those extra outdoor picnic tables in Thornton Park are here to stay, or for at least three more years. The City of Orlando voted Monday to keep the popular pandemic parklet pilot program in place (say that three times fast), allowing more outdoor seating and dining options for Orlandoans. (Fox35

  • Related: The city is still debating whether to keep other outdoor dining options that popped up during the pandemic and are giving business owners the opportunity to extend certain permits after the Aug. 1 expiration date. Wanna expand your outdoor operations long-term? Send an email to cityplanning@orlando.gov no later than July 30. (Orlando Weekly, Bungalower)

🍽 Rusteak has opened in a new location downtown. The former College Park eatery made moves to Thornton Park and soft-opened over the weekend in the former Menagerie space, joining its sister bar Broken Cage and restaurant Stubborn Mule on the Eola Drive block. You can snag a table at its first dinner service tomorrow night by making a reservation here. (Orlando Weekly, Bungalower

🇵🇭 Jollibee has been teasing an imminent opening date via billboards near its upcoming UCF-area location. The popular Filipino fast-food restaurant posted that it’s coming soon to the old Chuan Lu Garden space and is currently hiring at https://harri.com/jborlando. (Orlando Weekly

🌭 Portillo’s is celebrating National Hot Dog Week with a cute pup photo contest. To enter, just tag a photo of your pup looking extra dapper and using the hashtag #portilloshotdog or @portilloshotdog, and you could win swag for your four-legged companion (or maybe three-legged, hey, we don’t discriminate) and a $50 gift card to the famous hot dog spot. (Portillo’s

  • Speaking of hot dogs, pretty sure this video Kayla O’Brien made for us in 2019 was the first one of ours to go viral and the subject was delicious: How many times have you waited in line for an Old Reliable or the El Boricua from The Vegan Hot Dog Cart

Editor's Note: On Wednesdays, we typically take the time to introduce you to someone or some business to know in the food and beverage industry that's leaving their mark on Orlando. Please accept my apologies for not having an interview ready for you today. With that said, got someone I should talk to? Slide into my inbox. And in the meantime, head here to read our "Did You Eat Yet?" series sit-downs with local foodies like Chef AJ Haines from Mason Jar Provisions, Papa Wu from V.L.C. Vegan Eatery, and Faye Albanna of @fayespov.

Oh, and if you ever want to grab one of those said lattes and hang outside the coffeeshop, please count me in. ☕️

One more thing

For the last four weeks, you’ve voted on your favorite beer in Orlando. And now we’re wondering, did your nominee make it to the Final Four? (🎨: Pulptown illustration)

It’s here, y’all: The Final Four showdown of our Ultimate Orlando Beer Bracket. As a reminder — our bracket is not here to find the “best” local brew, because “best” means something different to everybody. But we are here to highlight the beers and breweries that Orlando really loves and which ones you feel best represent our fair city. And the truth is, we’ve heard you loud and clear.

You like these four beers the mostest, and one of them will soon reign supreme as the ultimate beer in town. It’s been a close race, and at this point, it’s anybody’s ballgame.

So, who will it be folks? What two beers will advance to the next round in our Ultimate Orlando Beer Bracket? That’s up to you. Vote here by 9 a.m. on Monday, July 26 to see who’s moving on.

Currently vying for the top two spots is

🍺 Castle Church Brewing’s Katie’s Kolsch versus 🍺 Persimmon Hollow’s Daytona Dirty Blonde Ale

AND

🍺 Ivanhoe Park Brewing’s Joyland IPAagainst 🍺 Sideward Brewing’s Friends & Enemies Coffee Stout.

Get your vote in now and then we’ll plan to meet you back here tomorrow!
