🕯️ Florida Rep. Alcee Hastings passed away yesterday following a years-long bout with pancreatic cancer. Hastings was serving his 15th term in the U.S. House of Representatives and had made history as a civil rights attorney before becoming the first Black man to serve as a federal judge in Florida. 🎶 A stretch of Northwest 14th Avenue in Liberty City has been renamed after legendary Miami soul singer Betty Wright. The rechristening took place on Monday to honor the late artist, who passed away last May at the age of 66. 🏀 In case you missed it, the trailer for the new Space Jam movie features a reference to one of the most iconic moments in Miami Heat history. You might recognize Lola Bunny’s celebratory stance — I’m a child of the ‘90s, how could I not remember these characters’ names? — as a recreation of Dwyane Wade’s iconic, arms outstretched moment as LeBron James dunked right behind him.
