Hi Everyone!
I hope your summer is going slowly and with lots of fun times, mine is flyin and I do wish it would slow down.
Convention is over and we had some very nice entries, There were 3 main groups,Grafton, Wilmont, Ripley, also a single non club entry from Kingsville. I will repeat and I hope some hear, you do not have to be a Club to enter!!! Many classes are open for any youth member so if you wish to give the child/youth a membership and call them a society member they can show. Please look up the schedule and pick some classes to send, Every District director goes to convention, send it with them and they can bring back if you cant come.

Thank you Wilmont, Ripley and Grafton for putting up with my learning curve, new on the job, new program for points, and of course hiccups we could not fix on the fly but we sure did try!
We are working on the recording program and hoping we can debug before next convention so I do not have to run around swapping cheques next year!. You were all such great sports.
Like the tee shirt on the top of the page? it's on the gardenontario site in the vistaprint store, you can order kid or adult sizes, and many items you can personalize with your club or society name.
I wanted to give you a couple of ideas for kid craft and this is an easy one. Have made in a basket, in pie plate, anything you have; I glued a foam block for dried flowers into the bottom and had the foam only 2 inches over lip of basket but I wanted a flat design, you can also mount in middle so more movement in design. I used long wired picks you can get at Michaels and collected all different sized pine cones, I used one day to paint the cones all different colours and let them dry and then next time I wired the cones and stuck into the foam the way I liked it. easy design and craft.
This photo is off internet.
Awards are changing, the 2020 schedule is posted but be aware there are some changes coming, I am working on numbering changes but the classes are the same, also awards are being added and some are changing, this does not affect the class subjects but might affect ones you go after as more money involved? There will be a money bonus for top photo, the Harry Wyma will not have a plaque and is for any artistic, crafty, you name it item, so maybe think of something different? The Frances Lemke will no longer have a youth leader report so that one is a different, and one more still to come so yah hoo!

Convention 2020 is in London Ontario! July 17-19.
Has a waterpark like pool for kids! We are hoping for some kid pricing to attend convention for maybe a part day (other part of day go to the pool) I have 1 seminar /workshop booked for convention on ideas for youth groups! Hoping to have at least 1 free seminar/workshop every year and also a meet and greet one morning so we can all get together or maybe after the youth seminar if we could meet in the same room or something? Work in progress so stay tuned!
*Who is in London area? Please send me an email as we may need some youth!
Kid friendly joke!
What did one Strawberry say to the other Strawberry?
"If you hadn’t been so fresh we wouldn’t be in this Jam".
Grants, changes are in the works to increase the current grant! instead of 20 little grants make it less grants for more money!
New one in the works so stay tuned as well!
Some ideas for activities

Make sure you are following Gardenontario on facebook and I will be posting some videos on craft ideas.....might work for the Harry Wyma? some other class? just for fun!

Sorry I have held this report/newsletter up as I hoped to have all the grant, class money changes in place but there is still one not finalized, Also news we are going digital with the youth club reports, so that means secure police check info, no mailing, no copies held all the good stuff and the questions have been changed following the feedback from my questions and info that I think might be of use in the future, that is in the works as well!
Reminder to submit youth doings to the trillium editor so we keep youth in the spotlight. The OHA Trillium newsletters goes far and wide and your sharing helps all youth groups! remember to have permission to share childrens photos.
