HEALTHY BONES
Do you know how important your bones are to your general health? Without healthy bones you can develop osteoporosis, a condition where bones become fragile and brittle as minerals, such as calcium, are lost at a faster rate than the body can replace. This leads to a decreased bone mineral density and ultimately increases your risk of fracture. In fact:
  • 1 in 3 Aussie skeletons have poor bone health
  • 1 in 3 people with osteoporosis are men
  • In Australia there is currently 1 bone broken every 3.6 minutes due to poor bone health. That’s 395 broken bones per day*

Bones are important. But why? Our bones:

  • Protect our soft, internal organs, like our brains and lungs
  • Contain marrow where blood cells are made
  • Store minerals like calcium; and most importantly
  • Support the structure of our bodies so that we can maintain an active lifestyle
Have you got teenagers?
Over roughly two years (ages 12-14 for girls and ages 13-15 for boys) teenagers bodies build one-quarter of their adult bone mass. Those years are crucial for good bone health.

Introducing our newest staff member.

Nicki  has lived and worked in Armidale for over 10 years.  Most recently Nicki worked for Essential Energy in the area of Work Health and Safety, Injury Prevention and Management of Workers Compensation in the Northern NSW region.

Nicki will be working at Rusden Street Physiotherapy in the areas of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, paediatrics and Injury

prevention and rehabilitation.
