TAFCO's Farm Smart project has a number of workshops planned for 2017 around soil health, building your organic matter, climate and sustainability.  We have set some time aside for one on one appointments with Project Officer Cindy Lucas for farmers growing niche crops or investigating establishing new on farm ventures.  Email Cindy direct at with your contact details and she will be in touch.
'Visit my Farm' is a new agritourism trial in Australia for farmers interested in opening beyond their farm gate to tourists.  Details and how to register expressions of interest (due by 24th January 2017)  can be accessed by clicking on the visit my farm logo below.


Myrtleford Farmers Market - Saturday 28th January 8.00am - 12.30p.m in the Piazza

With berries in full season and school about to resume we thought we would put out a challenge.  Make your own slushies and smoothies from pedal power - Myrtleford P-12 will be fund raising with  3 blender bikes, ice, fruit and juice. 
January's cooking demonstration by Patrizia Simone will feature saffron and will commence at 10.30 in the church hall adjacent to the Myrtleford Piazza.

Expressions of interest in the 4th Community Landcare and Agricultural Leadership Program close on the 17th January. 
This 7 session leadership program is designed for people working or volunteering in natural resource management.

Upper Ovens Water Management Plan review

RM Consulting Group are currently undertaking research and wanting to hear from water users in the Upper Ovens about taking and trading water from the unregulated Ovens or groundwater bore.  Part of the review is a research project that aims to find out water users' priorities and future demand for water, as well as their opinions on current licence controls and water trading entitlements. 
So if you have a water licence on the Upper Ovens, the area above the junction of the Ovens and Buffalo River you can participate and make comment in this review of the Upper Ovens Water Management Plan.
Licence holders will have the opportunity to meet with consultants who will be visiting the region between the 8th and 10th February 2017.
