Hi <<First Name>>,
A reminder to join our Thursday Meditation and Chat tomorrow evening 7-8pm Pacific Time. Zoom info is included below.
In the Chinese calendar, there are 3 periods in the summer that are the hottest days of the year -- these are called San Fu (三伏). This year, the San Fu periods are:
- 初伏 “The Initial Heat": July 11 - July 20 (10 days)
- 中伏 "The Middle Heat": July 21 - August 9 (20 days)
- 末伏 "The End Heat": August 10 - August 19 (10 days)
You may have heard of the saying 冬练三九,夏练三伏, meaning "Practice during the coldest periods in the winter and the hottest periods in the summer." This typically applies to martial arts and qigong, but also physical exercises in general. Practicing in the toughest conditions can induce faster growth, but beware this is more suitable for people who are generally healthy; people with health or medical conditions should exercise caution and moderation.
"The Initial Heat" and "The Middle Heat" periods bring us two additional opportunities for Sun Moxa (天灸), in addition to Summer Solstice. Come to our meditation and chat if you want to know or need a review of the method!
