This evening we did the plain old wuji meditation again. Speaking of Wuji, those of you who are interested in my upcoming Wuji Qigong online course (https://movingstillness.teachable.com/p/wuji), can use coupon code TAIJICHAT to enroll for free. This is a special rate for just this group, as a thank-you for your support of my classes and workshops in the past and your presence in this group currently.
We hit on so many topics today!
1. Challenging taiji postures/aspects
Turns out many people who are learning the 48 form found it challenging! I suggested a mini support group be formed. :D
I also could not resist pointing out that the taiji essentials between the 48 form and the laojia form should be the same - body alignment, moving from the dantian and the torso, opening and closing. Can you separate these from the complexity of choreography? (just throwing the question out there...)
2. How can we attract young people to Taiji?
This is such an old and yet forever young question! An open thread it will be for sure! Today Kyle shared her ideas of spreading taiji to the young, inspired by K-tigers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSXvWUBnQbM) and The Last Air Bender (https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a32689010/avatar-the-last-airbender-martial-arts/).
3. SRE and form practice.
Have you compared how your laojia feels like in these two scenarios?
A) Laojia x 6 in a day
B) SRE for an hour + Laojia x 1
For David, B yields much better performance and feeling in Laojia. Have you also tried?
4. Next Thursday, April 1, 7-8pm, we will continue our Meditation (7-7:30 pm) and Taiji Chat (7:30-8 pm) -- feel free to join either or both. I'm keeping the discussion topics open to you, or we can revisit any of the above that just got started. Feel free to send me topics you'd like to discuss or hear about in future sessions also!
