GPC Receives $1.5 Million Gift
Grameen PrimaCare (GPC) is thrilled to share that we have recently received a $1.5M gift to support the development and initial operation of our Grameen VidaSana (GVS) Wellness Center in Jackson Heights, Queens! This gift will enable the launch of our program in the summer of 2014 and enhance our organizational capacity for its successful operation.
"This support comes at a critical time in our development, strengthening our commitment to building the health resources of hard-working immigrant women in New York City. We are humbled by the incredible generosity of this donor and are motivated even more to work towards the success of our group based health prevention and promotion program. We are excited to contribute both to improving the health of immigrant women who remain uninsured and towards a more inclusive health care system as a whole", said Dr. Pablo Farias, CEO of GPC.

The Council has been meeting regularly to participate in health education sessions and provide us with important program feedback. To date we have conducted 12 educational sessions with the GVS Member Council, covering topics such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, diabetes and health systems navigation.
Members visit our provider Iora Health's clinic in Manhattan
Council members have also dedicated themselves to learning about the core components of GVS to better communicate with their peers. Members recently visited one of the clinics managed by our partnering health provider, Iora Health, which oriented them to the health program and brought to life the essence of GVS.
