A Word on Integrity

For years, individuals I admire told me to attend the Landmark Forum. Like most people, I avoided it with my own stories about why I couldn't attend, all the while overlooking the people who were pushing for me to take it.

People would say, "The forum will change your life!" Professionals I highly respect routinely recommended that I register, so I finally in August of 2015, I went. It was three days of self-reflection and lifework during 10 hour-long days.

The first day I was shaking my head agreeing with what was being said. The second day I took a step toward fixing a broken relationship in my life. The third and final day is when it all dawned on me. The forum is about integrity and valuing your word. One of my biggest challenges at the time was always around timeliness. I was always late. On that last day I went and had dinner and saw the word "integrity" on the menu. Later that night, I received a group text from my fiends. It was a meme that said, "That friend that says they'll be there at 7 p.m. but will really be there at 7:30." My friends started laughing about how I was that guy.

It hit me that I lived in a world where I didn't value the integrity of my own ambitions, allowing for my integrity to break in the eyes of others. Ever since that moment, I try my best to honor every agreement I make so I can keep my word. Sometimes I fail, but it's a constant focus and conversation with myself. Once things based on my integrity started to change, I knew it was three days well spent.

My word is the key to accessing everything I want in life, including my passion. I cannot recommend the Landmark Forum enough. Everyone should go.

#HealthisWealth - Whole 30 Cleanse
This past month I embarked on a very difficult journey which proved to be incredible for my life — the Whole 30 cleanse. On July 24 I weighed 234 pounds. Currently, I'm on day 37 and aiming to get to 60 days. The cleanse requires eating whole foods — meat, seafood, any vegetable, fruits in moderation, and eggs. That means no carbs, including pasta, bread, and grains. No dairy, no beans and no added sugar in the ingredients and nothing fried. The goal was to eat this way for a month.

For me, the cleanse's challenge related back to my opening article about keeping my word. This was something I wanted to commit to. How much does your own internal monologue make you feel like you've succeed or failed? Once you recognize the power of your word and trust in your own voice, you will be able to hold yourself accountable in any situation. I held myself accountable made it through the month. To date my energy has increased, my bad eating habits are slowly retracting and I've lost 31 pounds of weight that had no business on my body. The cleanse worked for me. If you're interested, speak to a doctor. You can learn more about the cleanse here.
