May 2016 Newsletter
Dear Friends,

Here is a long awaited update from Rehoboth !
(If you have some spare time and would like to help with writing the newsletter please contact me)
Since our last newsletter ...

Adoptions !
We are overjoyed that Mark Angelo (Quebec, Canada), Jane, Joy and JM (Wisconsin, USA), Erica (Wyoming, USA) and Jomar (Montana, USA) have all gone home with their forever families !
How wonderful these 6 children have their forever homes. Please pray with us for them and their families as the settle in to this new life, experiencing the love of a family in a whole new way. Pray also for the kids at Rehoboth still waiting. That paperwork would be processed at the right time for matching with the best forever family for them. Pray for wisdom and discernment for Pauline our social worker, in making such life impacting important decisions in the lives of these little ones.

New Arrivals
In January we welcomed Baby N, a 2 month old baby boy and his sister Little L who was 1 and 10 months. We also recently admitted Baby S, a little baby girl with some medical issues (You can read about her below).

Note: to respect the privacy of the children and comply with DSWD (Dept of Social Welfare and Development) and ICAB (Inter-Country Adoption Board) we are cautious in our use of children's names in our newsletters to comply with requirements for the privacy of the kids).

Kids Medical Updates
Our new addition, Baby S has Hydrocephalus.(fluid on the brain) At the moment she is on antibiotics so she will be well enough to endure surgery to put in a shunt. She has had pneumonia, been in hospital and had a blood transfusion. Today she is having another X-ray to assess her condition. She seems to be developing but this condition can cause permanent brain damage. Please pray for her and her significant medical needs - that she has not sustained brain damage and the surgery can be done quickly and successfully. We are thankful that John Ward had successful surgery to insert a silicone tube to fix a nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Jerome also had his first surgery to repair his cleft lip and palette.

Medical Clinic Update
The clinic continues to serve the Sampaloc community. We are grateful for obstetrician Dr Mago who is now regularly seeing patients. She joins our 4 capable midwives who work around the clock - Juanita, Marivic, Clea and Ruth. Juanita is also managing operations and and overseeing the Dept of Health accreditation process. This process is far along and we hope to be accredited this year. Once this process is complete, the clinic should be self sustaining.
Thank you to our donors who supplied 6 of the items from the list in the last newsletter. An update is below.  At the moment the clinic is running at a loss of about 8000 PHP per month (about USD$170 USD/ AUD$237/ 118 GBP).

End of 2015 celebrations.
We ended 2015 with Christmas celebrations, staff appreciation, Linggo ng Wika (All the children participated in dances and dressed in national Filipino dress) and our annual United Nations Day. See some images below.

Bonnie's Heart Baby Home
It is complete ! The second wing of the Baby Home building is complete and ready to open it's doors to 12 more little ones. This is a time of great celebration. Rehoboth can expand it's life-saving work in the Sampaloc area. This has been a long process and we are so thankful that the building is now complete.

We have also had some fantastic volunteers and visitors onsite.

Anticipating needs at Rehoboth...
Rehoboth has been operating for 13 years and has some things that need of repairs and replacement.
  • Urgent roof replacement of the original buildings House 1 and House 2 is beginning with grants from Siloam Ministries in the UK and individual donors in the USA. We have had to let the number of older kids dwindle so we can put all the older children in one house so the roof can be repaired. We are looking forward to the building repair so we can once again serve as many kids as possible while they wait for reunification or adoption.
  • Rehoboth's van is in urgent need of replacement as it is breaking down more and more often and repair costs are rising. If you are interested in assisting in raising funds for this please contact us. The anticipated cost would be about 1,300,000 PHP (about $34,000).
  • Rehoboth is working toward securing title of the land that was donated to it when it began. This would provide security for Rehoboth to continue to operate and serve as many children as possible in to the future, without the possibility of disruption to the ongoing operations and mission of Rehoboth. If you or someone you know would be willing to assist in this project, please be in contact.

Thanks for keeping up to date with everything Rehoboth.
I hope to resume more regular newsletters in the coming months.

Rehoboth Clinic Prayer and Financial Needs Update

Please pray for the newborn financing program we would like to implement. It would not only function as a savings plan for the mothers (with sponsorships by family/friends), but help link the moms with each other for support and growth. It would include group baby showers and monthly gifts to help encourage regular pre-natal care. We are hoping this program would improve mother and baby care and provide an opportunity for further education on pregnancy and infant care. Pray for wisdom and discernment in the best way possible for a system like this to help moms in the community.

Please pray for a pediatrician, dentist and other doctors/specialists to also join full or part time. Please also pray for office support - either volunteer or funds for a paid position. We;d love for this person to be innovative in setting up office procedures and systems to improve our efficiency and capacity as we grow.
Here is the updated list of financial needs for the Clinic.
A huge thank you to the donors who provided the resources for the purchased items !

As mentioned, at the moment the clinic is running at a loss of about 8000 PHP per month. If you would like to bridge the gap please donate here.
