I am no expert at football, but I will share some observations regarding the game of Jewish life. And talking about Jewish life/football... we'll have some delicious Super Bowl themed foods tomorrow for Shabbat dinner! Please let us know if you are joining so we can save you a spot.
For thousands of years, the Jewish people, and our uniquely Jewish views on G-d, on the world and on purpose have been on the defensive.
We were almost always under oppression, and mostly by religions which were FORCED to denigrate our religious views, as their faith claimed to be a "new and improved" view of the world. If Jews would even open their mouths claiming to have greater insight than their religious oppressors, they would risk torture or death.
All that changed in the 20th century. The USA led the way in giving every citizen true safety, respect and equality, and the Jewish community had an unprecedented opportunity.
So we started playing offensive Judaism. Proud and loud. In the public arena and in the workplace. In communities and on college campuses. And we are leading positive change in all areas of life.
Let's keep at it and continue improving this world and lighting up the darkness!!
Shabbat Shalom!
