It often goes without saying that publishing houses, even small ones like Barclay Press, wouldn’t be much without writers. And because it goes without saying, we forget how much writers matter – how much you matter. So almost every morning this week, I’ve been starting my work with a reminder: I couldn’t do any of this without you. I wouldn’t be able to order and arrange and publish and distribute your words if you hadn’t already done the work of thinking and writing and revising and risking. So much risking! Thank you so much for the work you do. I couldn’t do any of this without you. – Eric
Quakers Uniting in Publications (QUIP), begun informally in 1983 by a small group of Quaker publishers and booksellers, is now an international network of over 50 Friends organizations and individuals concerned with the ministry of the written word. QUIP’s annual conference, scheduled for March 28-31, will be in Oregon this year, and the theme is Building Bridges: Quaker Writers and Publishers Working Together to Bring Us Together.
The title poem from Juniper Klatt’s collection. Scheduled for release in March.

my family is
water, water, water

the people who held me
made me
adventured with me
poured their love into me

and I am earth
oh what a vessel
what a glorious, surprising
plant filled vessel

I was raised in a house of water
