Welcome to the May Update

May 1 saw 29 Team PHenomenal Hope athletes, six PH patients and lots of Team PH volunteers turn out for the Pittsburgh Marathon. The event offered the perfect platform to launch our newest campaign – #LetMeBeYourLungs – Team PH team members and friends will race in honor of people who live with pulmonary hypertension. It’s All About Phenomenal Mojo

This year, Team PH returned to the Pittsburgh Marathon and expanded our efforts as we race to make a difference and use this big event to raise PH awareness and give back to the community.

Warrior Bio

Greta was born in December 2010, prematurely after a complicated pregnancy. When Greta was 2 years old and didn’t seem to recover from a common cold, doctors discovered that she suffered from pulmonary hypertension (PH)

Every Breath Matters

UPMC and Team PHenomenal Hope came together to produce a video that demonstrates how routine activities for patients with PH can make their heart pound or cause labored breathing much like a healthy athlete training for a sport.

PH patients featured in the video are: Dan Kolopajlo, Vicky Johnson and Julia Feitner.

Team PH athletes shown training are: Amanda Budzowski Gabarda, Christian Gabarda, Dustin Wehler and Anne-Marie Alderson.
