The Big Lunch in Northolt.

The Big Lunch is a nationwide afternoon where neighbours get together. We thought this would be a great event to hold in Northolt and welcome everyone.

Date: Sunday 5th June 2016

Time: 12noon till 3pm
Venue: Oldfield Allotments Community Area, Under “The Oak Tree”. Entrance Gate Opposite: Carr Rd. no. 156
What to bring: Please bring food and drink to share and exchange with other participants, and if you have some please bring your own (recyclable) plates, cutlery and glasses (we will also have some at the event for everyone to use). Note: Please label your food and mention if it is vegetarian or not too.
RSVP: By email: oldfieldallotments@gmail.com or in person, at the Allotment Shop during opening hours.

It will be fantastic to mix and mingle with your local neighbours and enjoy a variety of food brought to the Big Lunch by everyone that lives locally.

Ealing in Bloom 2016

Notice to all Plotholders, please have your plot and paths in top conditions for the Ealing in Bloom Site and Plot competition and local judging of all plots. We would like as many of you as possible to enter the Ealing in Bloom competition - those of you with a ‘single or smaller’ plot enter the ‘small plot’ section. If you have a double or more than one, then you can enter the ‘Large plot’ section. (see Michel mid April)

All of you are automatically entered into our local plot competition, and there are prizes to be had! So the better you keep your plot, then the more likely you win in this as well!

PLEASE HELP US WIN!

First visit: week commencing 6th June
Second visit: week commencing 11th July

Britain in Bloom
As you should all know, our allotment site ‘Oldfields’, won 1st prize in the Ealing in Bloom competition both last year and the year before. Many of our plotholders also won prizes as well!

It is likely that this year, as Ealing will represent London, that Ealing Council will select our site, Oldfields, as their representative site in the RHS Britain in Bloom competition – this would be absolutely fantastic for all of us. (see www.ealing.gov.uk/news)

So, to ensure that we help Ealing to win, all our plotholders are being asked to make sure that their plots, paths, buildings etc are really tidy, well repaired, have lots of produce and vegetables planted, and that generally the whole site is clean, tidy, colourful and welcoming.

Repair and maintain all your paths. Pick up all rubbish etc. and dispose of by taking it home or to a waste recycling site.

DO NOT throw any rubbish, bags, glass etc on the bonfire or compost area. The Bonfire is for WOOD ONLY, the compost area for GREEN PLANT stuff only.

Paths
As you know, we had new water pipes and water tanks installed early last year. Unfortunately many of our paths had to be dug up for this work, and many of these paths still need to be repaired. (We also had a new Loo, funded by local ward forum for £10,000!)

Would you please repair any areas of path that are at the end or beside your plot. If each of you does just a little bit then our paths will be repaired quickly and easily.

New grass can easily be put on to the bad patches, by using any clumps of grass that you dig up from your plot while you are clearing it for the summer, and then trodden down over the bare patches. Thank you - Michel Le Guilcher: Site Manager.
