The Annual General Meeting of the Association for 2015 will take place on:

Date: Thursday 12th November
Time: 7:30pm - 9pm
Place: Ken Adock Community Centre, Carr Road, Northolt

Please put this in your diaries so you can all attend! We have some important updates to give and would also love to have some more of our members join the committee, or just come forward to help with different projects during the year – the time required is really very small, so please think about it – you could make all the difference.
Big Lunch 2015 goes down a treat!
The Big Lunch we had on Sunday 7th June was again this year a great success! The weather was fantastic and around 65 allotment members as well as local community members attended; including Cllr. Aysha Raza and our local MP Stephen Pound.

This year we also had a collection for the earthquake disaster in Nepal and we collected a fantastic £240 which was passed on to The Umbrella Foundation who support children in the disaster area. Thanks for your
generosity in bringing food to share with others as well as donating.
Nature called and the Greenford Green Ward answered.
No more running home from the allotment site when nature calls. Our new composting toilet was installed in June, and we are very thankful for The Greenford Green Ward Forum’s contribution of £10,000 for the project. We are delighted with the result, and Oldfield Allotment & Gardens Association has contributed £900 to have the new path laid along the shop to the new toilet.

On Saturday 18th July we had a small ceremony where Cllr. Aysha Raza formally cut the ribbon and our new facility was ready for use!

Ward Cllr Dr. Aysha Raza said: I am thrilled that our ward forum money could be put to such good use and delighted to do the honours and open the new facility.More importantly I think that this sort of sustainable and eco-friendly project is hugely important particularly in the future when water management threatens to become an issue. Oldfield Allotment Association is a shining example of how an association such as this can become the beating heart of the community. I am very proud that Greenford Green is starting a bit of a green toilet revolution in Ealing and honoured to be asked to cut the ribbon!

Allotments manager Michel Le Guilcher said: This is a realisation of a dream we thought would take a long time to achieve and are so happy that the whole process happened so quickly and are delighted with the results!

Kristine Kristensen, Treasurer: We went along to the ward forum with no expectations and were very surprised when our proposal was met with such enthusiasm from our ward councillors and residents.

Jonathan Staples, Ealing Council Park Ranger: I have watched this project with interest as we are hoping to have the next one installed at the Litten Nature Reserve as part of the facility improvements there, enabling school groups to visit and learn more about sustainability and our environment.

Allotment Association committee chair Fiona Hughes and secretaryJoanne Jackson presented Cllr Raza with a beautiful basket brimming with a huge range of produce from the allotments.

Cllr Raza said ‘I have never received anything quite so gorgeous!’

Remember you can sign up to have use of the toilet by collecting a key (for a small admin fee) and a copy of the rules from the shop.
Everyone enjoys another brilliant BBQ and Produce show
We held our annual BBQ and Produce Show on Saturday 25th July. The show in the morning attracted many entrants, with lots of produce displayed for the fun of it!

The prizes were handed out later at the BBQ which again was a big success, with lovely food prepared and cooked to perfection by Jorge Rodrigues and his helpers, our thanks to them.

About 60 people gathered at The Oak Tree for the BBQ and we were very lucky with the weather, lovely sunshine, sandwiched between the heavy downpours of both Friday and Sunday. Still we also needed the rain!
A record breaking potato!
Oscar, an allotment and committee member, has beaten his own record on growing the biggest potato. Weighing in at just over 600grams this potato is one to be reckoned with.
Delicious recipe: Cheddar Potato Kugel
