I'm so happy to be back in New Zealand. After a very sweet visit with my family and friends in Canada, I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. I hope you've been enjoying your summer so far.

I was speaking with a friend of mine the other day about new year resolutions and it made me think about one of the first things I like to cover in my workshops - FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

Did you know that it only takes 7 seconds for us to be judged by someone new, and that's based solely on our appearance? It's true (and we all do it subconsciously)! In less than a minute, that new person we are meeting has already come up with a narrative about us just based on what we are wearing. They've likely decided on whether or not we're partnered with someone, if we have kids, what our job is, how much money we make, they may even have thoughts about how we were raised.

We all have a message about ourselves that we want others to know, and the way we visually present ourselves can express that message without us having to say a word.

One of the exercises we do in my workshops to help us develop our personal style and deliver that message, is to come up with a "style statement" (basically a summary of your authentic self - in one sentence). It can be used as a tool to guide you as you are getting dressed or when you go out shopping for clothing and accessories. It will help you decide whether or not the outfit(s) you've chosen fall in line with the image and message you would like to communicate to others. I thought I would share with you my current one as an example:

'I am a warm, authentic, polite warrior, inspiring others with my practical skills and elegantly edgy style.'

What do you think? (My husband coined the term "polite warrior" for me. It resonated - and it made me laugh!) So I'm getting ready to give this revamped statement a try along with a few recent wardrobe additions to suit my current lifestyle.

Want to take a stab at creating your own style statement?

1.) Have a think about which words best represent your personality and your strengths (or ones you find attractive). Think about how you'd like others to perceive you (at work, home, social gatherings, etc).

2.) Combine those words to create your own statement.

I'd love to read what you come up with, and of course if you want to explore and develop your personal style further, be sure to check out one of my upcoming workshops. For the next little while, I will be focusing on full day intensive (and fun) workshops that include lunch and refreshments, rather than four individual weekly sessions. Read about it below or reply to this email for more information.
Above: My new wig do, inspired by my revamped style statement and Autumn/Winter 2020 mood board. This is "Zoe"...she has just been unboxed and cut here, so needs a little time to unwind and let loose :)

* Do you wonder how some women just seem to effortlessly put together looks that suit them perfectly every single day?

* Are you resistant or hesitant about dressing your body as it is now?

* Do you want to understand what colours, shapes and styles of clothing and accessories suit you and your lifestyle best?

* Do you want to know where and how to shop without breaking a sweat and feeling stressed out?

* Do you wish you could take control of your closet so that you can build a stylish and functional wardrobe that aligns with who you really are?
We have now confirmed our first full day workshop and would like to invite you to join us on a creative and exciting journey to looking fabulous and feeling comfortable in your own skin!

"Keep up the great work! Thank you so much for last night. I went home feeling so much better about myself!"

"I wasn't really sure what to expect but came away from the workshop feeling like I was starting to understand my own style. In fact, I realised that up until that point I had focused on trends and I hadn't really given much thought to what my personal style was!"

"The group sessions were relaxed and informal and it was easy to share ideas in a small group. I thought the course covered the issues really well."

"Bibi clearly has a great understanding of style! Also, she was very good at getting the group to opening up the conversation."

"Bibi has a lovely friendly nature which put everyone at ease. This is really key when you are discussing things that some people may feel sensitive about (such as body shape/proportions etc...)."

"I genuinely feel that I have a clearer picture of 'my style' and feel more confident about what to buy when out shopping (and what I need to get rid of)! Thank you Bibi!"

(Just until Valentine's Day...then a new offer will be up!)

Don't forget, I'm always available to demonstrate or answer any skincare or makeup questions you may have. I also have all products set up in my studio, should you wish to stop by and try them out. If you'd like to schedule a skincare and makeup consult, please email me or you can purchase products directly from my World Organics page.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please get in touch with me.
Enjoy the rest of February and hope to see you soon!
