Parents Demand Answers On Possible PFAS Exposure From Water At Canton School
Parents in Canton came out in force this week looking for answers to their concerns about possible PFAS contamination of Cherry Brook Primary School’s water supply.
Town officials said the matter came to light a couple of weeks ago when they learned that firefighting foam containing PFAS was used at the elementary school five years ago during a training exercise. They hosted a meeting with state officials to address parents’ concerns about the effects of the family of man-made chemicals, which may be toxic to humans.
Many of the parents wanted to know exactly what their children, both current and former students, may have been exposed to after the incident, but officials had few answers.
They said they won’t know much until the results of water and soil tests come in, and that could take up to four weeks. In the meantime, a large tank outside the school is now supplying water to the building while officials await the test results. MORE »
