The Doel Reed exhibition opens on July 6 celebrating the life and talents of Doel Reed. Sun Patterns, Dark Canyon: The Paintings and Aquatints of Doel Reed (1894-1985), runs until October 30, 2021. This exhibition travels to the following museums after its time in Stillwater.

Wichita Art Museum, Wichita, Kansas | November 20, 2021 to March 14, 2022
Taos Art Museum at Fechin House, Taos, New Mexico | May 24, 2022 to August 28, 2022

We are also celebrating Oklahoma artist Anita Fields who was named a 2021 National Heritage Fellow. Fields is only the seventh Oklahoman to receive this prestigious award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Congratulations Anita!

The Paintings and Aquatints from Doel Reed (1894-1985)
July 6 - October 30, 2021

Sun Patterns, Dark Canyon explores the art and career of the highly successful twentieth-century American printmaker and painter Doel Reed (1894-1985). Reed is best known today as a Southwestern artist and "master of the aquatint;" his conservative and yet modernist approach to the New Mexican landscape found a ready audience among curators and collectors during his lifetime.

Join us on Second Saturday in July to create a collage inspired by our current exhibitions. A limited supply of art kits will also be available for take home - first come, first served. No registration required.
