Senior Communication Management Professional certification program now available

The Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new certification program designed for highly skilled business communicators looking to demonstrate their mastery and experience.

The Senior Communication Management Professional (SCMP) certification is aligned with the Strategic Adviser level in IABC’s Career Road Map. If you have 11 or more years of combined experience and education/training in professional business communication, you might be ready for SCMP certification.

This new program joins the first certification developed by the GCCC, the Communication Management Professional (CMP) certification. The CMP program remains the same, aimed at the Generalist/Specialist level, a mid-level stage in the communication professional’s development.

Here's what you need to know if you are interested in applying for SCMP certification.

Applications for SCMP certification are being accepted immediately and can be found on the new GCCC website.

The first offering of the SCMP certification exam is scheduled for the morning of Sunday, 11 June, in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton, during IABC’s 2017 World Conference.

Applications must be received by 11 May to be considered for the 11 June SCMP exam.

Fees related to SCMP certification are the same as those for the CMP level:
  • US$100 for the application for IABC members; US$400 for non-members
  • US$400 for the exam
  • US$100 for annual maintenance
Anyone who already holds ABC and CMP certification is eligible to receive a discounted application fee of US$50 when they apply for SCMP certification.

CMP certification news
For those interested in applying for CMP certification, please visit the new GCCC website to download the candidate handbook and submit the application.
For all current, approved CMP candidates ready to take that exam, registration is now open for the following 2017 CMP exam dates:
  • 29 April: London, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta
  • 26 May: Vancouver, British Columbia
  • 11 June: Washington, D.C. (at the IABC World Conference)
  • 14 October: Calgary, Alberta
New exam dates and sites are added regularly and will be posted on the GCCC website (chapters and other groups interested in hosting an exam should visit the “Host an Exam” section of the new GCCC website).

If you have other questions about the CMP certification and/or the new SCMP certification, visit gcccouncil.org or send an email to info@gcccouncil.org.
