DAEC Provides Much-Needed Student Housing
Students from the English as a Second Language and high school equivalency programs will be moving into DAEC's first student housing program this month.  Thanks to a grant from the Daniels Fund, four students will now have access to a housing unit in town while they finish their education or find more stable housing.  In partnership with Housing Solutions of the Southwest, we obtained an apartment near Manna Soup Kitchen to assist four students who otherwise would not have a place to live.  The two bedroom, dorm-style unit has been completely furnished by donations from DAEC staff and community members.

We are thrilled to help remove one more barrier on the path to self-sufficiency for our students.

International Giving Tuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses, and individuals—to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this year—November 29, 2016, to kick-off the holiday giving season and to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support. Currently, more than 45,000 corporate and nonprofit organizations in over 71 countries have participated in the initiative.
