Dear BARS Member Organizations and TAC representatives,

The 38th Quarterly FSF World Wide Onshore Resource Sector Accident Summary (WWAS) is attached for review with data up to 30 June 2021. The registry of accidents shows 2021 with no recorded accidents, continuing the pleasing trend of previous years with a decreasing number of events.
Recent research uncovered a fatal helicopter accident for a (non-BARS) resource company and this has been added to the last year’s events meaning 2020 had 3 recorded events with a single fatality.

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has an ongoing objective to gather the BMO Aviation Usage Data so these records can be portrayed as a normalised ‘rate’ of events. The BARS Program Office is collecting the data for 2020 now and we would appreciate all of our Member Organizations returning their company flight hour data as soon as possible. We understand this can be a challenge with disparate departments and contracts, however the long term goal is to turn this into a valuable metric for measuring safety.

Please contact our office for more information or support to assist in the cause.

Regards,

David Anderson
Managing Director
