We highly recommend buying tickets in advance, as we expect several if not all of these showings to sell out. All listed screenings of the Interview cost $10. Two dollars from each ticket will be donated to Liberty in North Korea
, which works to help North Korean refugees reach freedom and thrive in their resettlement.
The Interview, starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, is a comedy about a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. In November, an anonymous group allegedly from North Korea hacked into Sony's computer systems, leaking several upcoming films and releasing personal details of Sony employees, as well as threatening to perform terrorist attacks on theaters screening the film.
Sony announced it was pulling the film in light of these threats, and as one might expect, they received major backlash including cries of censorship and "letting the terrorists win." Even President Obama weighed in to criticize Sony's decision to pull the film.
Today, Sony announced their new plan: to release The Interview to select indie theaters and arthouses across the country, including the New Parkway Theater. We hope you will choose to come see this controversial flick at the best speakeasy theater in the Bay, where you can enjoy food, beer, and comfy couches. See you soon!
