Dear Friends of Mountain Friends Camp,

We are having a great time at camp, with lots of games, music, hikes and frequent afternoon rain. This morning a group set off for an overnight backpacking trip into the Pecos Wildnerness, and those of us at camp enjoyed a lunch picnic at the lake.
Here are the introductions to our hardworking, creative and caring staff members who make this camp come alive and are taking great care of the campers. I've heard dozens, maybe hundreds of "camp affirmations" already this month, and it is our counselors, CITs and support staff who are to thank. One camper told me this weekend, that it is so amazing how much love and friendship they feel at camp, after a year feeling like they didn't have friends.
We are still fundraising to meet expenses for this summer, with almost $10,000 to go to meet our budget goal! Thanks to all who make camp possible, through participating on site, sending support and helping campers attend, and your financial contributions. If you have not yet given, please consider a contribution so that the fun, healing, and friendship of camp can continue!

In Friendship,

Anastacia Ebi

Mountain Friends Camp 2021 Staff

Theo Bloyd: Hello! I’m Theo, use he/him pronouns, and live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I’m attending college right now, and hope to become a published sci-fi & fantasy author in the future. I've been at MFC as a camper, kitchen staff in training, counselor in training, zoom tech support/counselor, and this year will be a counselor. I’m looking forward to spending time out in nature with everyone, and hope we have a great year!
Toni Frank: I've always wanted to be a nurse for summer camp, and this turned out to be the right time and place for it. I've been an RN for many years, most recently, School Nurse (at Santa Fe Indian School) for the last 7 years.
Nicola Gacy: Hello! My name is Nicola and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I’m from Lafayette Colorado and I will be a Junior at Earlham College this fall (hopefully attending my semester in France!) I have grown up Quaker in Boulder Friends Meeting and have made lifelong friendships at MFC as a camper, counselor in training, and counselor. This year I will be a counselor and coordinate the CIT program. Some of my current loves include knitting, reading, playing the piano, spending time outdoors, and making and sharing tasty food. I am so excited to be heading back to Mora for another year of Mountain Friends Camp!
Mary Gray McGee: I'm delighted to be here at camp with my grandchildren.  It's exciting to be camping out in my own tent surrounded by so many young people having so much fun.  I taught elementary school 25 years.

Orion Moss: I've been going to camp for 8 years and I have so many good memories here. This is my first year being staff so I'm a bit nervous but I'm really happy I get to still be a part of this magical camp. I've been going to Quaker meetings on and off most of my life and I have a lot of respect for the Quaker community and values. Past work experiences include assistant staff at a local farm school and at a wilderness program, as well as being a CIT at online MFC last year. This past year has been difficult for everyone and I think it's amazing we get to have camp in person, let's make this a session to remember!

Neil Norby: Hi everyone, I’m Neil. I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and attend the Santa Fe Monthly Meeting there. I’ve been at Mountain Friends Camp ever since 2013, as a camper, kitchen-staff in training, and kitchen staff. Every time I’ve been there has been fun! Unfortunately I wasn’t part of Zoom MFC this last year; I’m very glad it is happening in-person this year. I will be helping Beverly out in the kitchen, making sure everyone has enjoyable meals, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see me around very often.
Liam Ryer: Hello I'm Liam Ryer, Counselor for MFC this year. Typically I love cooperative games of all sorts, writing, drawing, and food. This will be my second summer at MFC and first as a full counselor. I'm excited to see everyone this year!
Jamie Slick: Hi! My name is Jamie, and I use he/him pronouns. I'm from Louisville, CO, and I'll be a sophomore at Colorado School of Mines this coming fall. I'm studying computer science, and my interests also include video games and reading. I'm excited to be at camp for my eighth year, and my second year as a counselor, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!
Ana, Beverley, Eric, Lois and Heather are all returning support staff! See full bios here https://mountainfriendscamp.org/staff/meet-our-staff/
Every summer, campers and staff (re)create and agree to "camp norms" to guide our community; Often these are based on the Quaker SPICES (simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, stewardship); here are the 2021 camp norms.
Camper Pods 2021: Fire foxes, (Desmond's) Lawnmowers, Golden Elephant Society, and the Mysterious Shrimp.
