Georgia Tech Director of Diversity Engagement and Program Development Keynotes the NBGHF 35th Anniversary
Calls for PGA Inclusion, More Black Suppliers

Donna M. Ennis, C.P.F., of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, was the keynote speaker at this month's National Black Golf Hall of Fame’s (NBGHF) 35th Celebration and Induction Ceremony. The NBGHF is a client of the Atlanta Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center, which Ennis directs. In her remarks, Ennis congratulated NBGHF for its impact on the world of golf and on the lives of young people, while highlighting the importance of Black suppliers and players’ inclusion and participation in golf, speaking on the use of Black businesses in the golf industry’s supply chain, and issuing a challenge to the PGA and the golfing industry as a whole to “be intentional about their approach to identifying and using Black suppliers.”

The NBGHF is dedicated to strengthening Black legacy in the game of golf, and their annual Celebration and Induction Ceremony commemorates those who have made significant contributions to this legacy. This year, the NBGHF welcomed Representative James E. Clyburn, the Cobbs Creek Golf Course, Stephen “Steve” Mona, and Vernice and Madelyn “Moochie” Turner to its ranks. Other notable recognitions included highlights by 15-year-old Haven Ward, the number one African American female junior golfer in America, and Solomon Dobbs, a Morehouse College engineering student and golf team member, who was captain of the first all Black players and coaches Georgia state championship team in 2019. Both individuals praised the influence of Jeff Dunovant, NBGHF Chairman and President, on their game and their lives. Read more
