Happy Pride Month! We’re excited to bring you an inspiring story of an LGBTQIA+ social entrepreneur, who is making the world a better place. Her blog marks Spiffys’s 200th interview for Nasdaq! We also bring you a blog on how StartOut is connecting diverse entrepreneurs to investors.

On to more cause for celebration. The digital version of our latest picture book 'Poof Went the Roof' was launched at the World Bank Group Youth Summit 2021.

Social Entrepreneur of the Month

“At 22 years old, I had to leave my dream job due to the aggressive treatment for Lyme disease that required me to be on an IV for up to eight hours per day. I was forced to choose between my health and the work that I was truly passionate about. From that point on, I became determined to create employment opportunities for those living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. My hopes are that through Chronically Capable’s ambitions, nobody will ever have to decide between their health and their career ever again.” -Hannah Olson, Founder and CEO of Chronically Capable
(Nominated for Spiffy's Blog by Gaingels)

Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builder of the Month

“StartOut’s mission is to increase the number, diversity, and impact of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. We aim at levelling the playing field so that all entrepreneurs can have a seat at the table, focusing on LGBTQ+ founders. I love the work that we do as I believe that becoming a successful entrepreneur should not be reserved for the highly connected or those who already look the part. I also love how we bring the community together and create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ founders to be themselves and thrive.” -Sarah Burgaud, Director of Programs and Partnerships at StartOut

Special Launch of e-book 'Poof Went the Roof' at World Bank Group Youth Summit 2021

Poof Went the Roof
Inspired by the amazing work being led by Madhav Datt and Kaushal Shetty through Nostos Homes — an emergency shelter kit for people displaced from their homes — Poof Went the Roof was recently launched at the World Bank Group Youth Summit 2021. This cracker of a book written by Akruti Babaria (she/her), and illustrated by Namrata Vansadia (she/her), makes for a fun read and an amazing gift!
