Hearing Heaven's News

"Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord’” (Luke 2:8-11).

This significant passage of scripture reveals to us that God entrusted the most important news of four millenniums to shepherds—not to dignitaries, kings, or princes of that day. Neither did he entrust the news to the rich, the famous, the scribes, the Pharisees, the Jerusalem Post, or CNN! He sent the birth announcement, of His only Son who was sent to save the world, via angels to lonely shepherds living in a place of apparent insignificance and anonymity.

As it was then, so it is now; subsequent announcements of the life and ministry of His Son through the church come in the same manner. He sends Heaven's news to the most unlikely people—those who are insignificant and anonymous in the world’s eyes but valuable and indispensable in God’s mind. He has reserved Heaven’s news for the following three groups of people:

Enjoy this Christmas funny to brighten up your holiday:

The Santa Claus at the shopping mall was very surprised when Emily, a young lady aged about 20 years old, walked up and sat on his lap. Now, we all know that Santa doesn't usually take requests from adults, but she smiled very nicely at him, so he asked her, “What do you want for Christmas?”

“Something for my mother, please,” replied Emily sweetly.

“Something for your mother? Well, that's very loving and thoughtful of you,” smiled Santa. “What would you like me to bring her?”

Without turning a hair Emily answered quickly, “A son-in-law.”

Dear Friends,

Last year, I felt impressed to start recording television shows that communicate God’s wisdom and help people mature in their walk with Jesus. We began recording our new TV program called Wisdom for Living in March of 2020, and we have produced 40 shows because of our faithful partners.

I am pleased to announce that we will be airing this daily show on Andrew Wommack’s GospelTruth.TV in early 2022. The cost of recording and producing one show is approximately $500, and we need to produce 130 more shows to complete the year. Would you consider becoming a TV partner with us to help bring the gospel to people around the world? A donation of forty dollars a month for a commitment of one year would pay for one broadcast quality show.

Imagine you sponsor a show that brings freedom to a man struggling with anger. This is what happened to Thomas, my student at Charis Bible College. During my relationship class, the Lord started speaking to his heart to deliver him from the bondage of anger and self-hatred:

I was listening to pastor Greg speak about relationships and specifically how internal anger is caused by an unfulfilled revenge or injustice against what someone has done to you. So I took that statement and looked within myself to see who in my life I never forgave because I’ve always had tremendous anger for years. As I looked through my life at different scenarios and things I’ve gone through, I couldn’t find anyone that I haven’t forgiven. Throughout my life, Jesus would always bring things up that I had been through (even things I forgot about) and ask if I would be willing to forgive; my answer was always, “Yes.”

I knew I had anger, but I couldn’t find the reason why. So I asked the Lord, “Who have I not forgiven?” And the Lord spoke to me and said, “Thomas, it’s true you’ve forgiven everyone in your life but you’ve never forgiven yourself.” When the Lord said that, it was like He revealed the darkest, most evil part of my heart. I saw how much hatred was there and it was all directed toward myself.

Now I could see why I was so angry; I knew the last person I needed to forgive in my life was me. But I couldn’t do it; I sat in class trying to hold myself together emotionally for about 30 minutes trying to forgive myself. When I tried, all the things I’ve done would come flooding back to me. I internally held myself to a standard and the things I said I would never do, I did them all. I didn’t have a problem forgiving others, but myself was much different and much harder.

I finally just told the Lord, “I can’t do it, I can’t forgive myself; I’m trying so hard to do it from my heart, but I can’t. How do I forgive myself?”

I know this is going to sound weird but the Lord said, “Just say, ‘Self, do you forgive me?’ And then say, ‘Self, I forgive you.”’

When I did that, it was like the blackness in my heart took form in a dark, disgusting, putrid ball and slowly was lifted from my heart. As it came out, it just dissipated into nothingness.

Once it was gone, I felt a great weight lifted off of me and off my heart. Before this, my heart in relationships were limited to the degree of how close I could be to someone, whether family or friends. But now my heart is open to other people; I want to be with people, love people, know who they are, and show them who I am.

Before this, I was very stand-offish; I was very quiet and never wanted anyone to know who I really was because deep-down, I hated that person. Forgiving myself opened my heart to love and to be with other people in a capacity I never had before. All the anger I had was completely gone. I didn’t realize how much bondage I was in with unforgiveness, but I also never knew I needed to forgive myself. I was completely set free once I forgave myself, and I love loving people now.

The freedom Thomas received in my relationship class will be multiplied many times over through our television broadcast. Like Thomas, people will receive revelation and liberty through the show you sponsor. Their victory will be yours too!

In Philippians 1:3-7, Paul gives thanks because the church of Philippi who partnered with him in spreading the gospel. He commends them for being partakers of the defense and confirmation of the freedom provided through Jesus, the cross, and His resurrection.
