Newsletter 2020

A big thank you to our Newsletter advertizers - Flying Teachers and University of St. Gallen
Update from the President

Dear AICZ Community,

Thank you for your engagement and participation in our club during these challenging COVID-19 times. We are grateful for the loosening of restrictions in the recent summer months and the chance to slowly and with caution resume our `face to face` events and club activities that our members enjoy.

We are all acclimatizing to the new standards for hygiene in public spaces and the accompanying daily life rituals that can help to keep us as safe as possible. We adapt, innovate and roll with the changes while working within the guidelines of the Swiss Federal Council. Depending on overall conditions, we may have to modify our events and schedule where necessary moving forward. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding in these unprecedented times.

Best regards,

James Macsay
President
American International Club of Zurich

US VOTING
AMERICAN CITIZENS ABROAD
Latest US VOTING information

AMERICAN ELECTIONS NOVEMBER 3

All American citizens, regardless of residency, are guaranteed the right to vote in federal elections.  As many are aware the upcoming presidential and congressional elections will be some of the most important in history.
The exercise of the franchise to participate in democracy is a privilege, a responsibility, and a right.  The Federal Voting Assistance Program provides an internet platform with all the information a US citizen needs to participate in voting.  The site has click through links to the voting regulations of every state, as each state governs voting regulations in their state.  Here's the link to this very informative website:  https://www.fvap.gov/

Your very last state of residence in the USA, even if decades ago,  governs the regulations that apply to your ballot application.  Just enter that state, and the FVAP website will direct you to your state's voting page.  Don't wait - check out the requirements for your state this weekend.

MEMBER TO MEMBER

Welcome our new
Executive Committee Member:
Jeff Haindl

Jeff Haindl was born to Swiss parents in Kentucky and grew up in Switzerland. He completed his studies at the University of Zurich, where he majored in economics with a focus on environmental and political economics. In 2001, he moved to New York where he worked in the financial services industry and more importantly, met his wife Tanya. After their first daughter was born, they decided to trade the excitement of New York for being close to their family in Switzerland and relocated to Zurich in 2010. Today, they live with their three daughters in Zurich Wollishofen.  Jeff is with Swiss American Wealth Advisors and helps Americans in Switzerland and the Swiss in the Unites States cope with the various cross-border financial planning issues. Jeff enjoys snowboarding and splitboard touring during winter and mountain biking during the rest of the year.
