60th IISL Colloquium
on the Law of Outer Space
at IAC 2017 Adelaide

Call for Abstracts
Deadline 28 February 2017

This year’s IAC takes place in Adelaide from to September 23-27 and IISL looks forward to welcoming as many of its members as possible to this annual event. IISL would like to invite those members interested in submitting an abstract for any of its technical sessions to do so. The success of the IISL Colloquium over the years has been due to the continued support of its members and authors contributing the legal discussion of issues relating to outer space and the law. This year’s session take a look at the following subjects:
  • “NewSpace,” New Laws / How governments can foster new space activities
  • Refugees and the role of space communications/Status and Practice of Charter for Man-made Disasters
  • Space law Developments in Asia-Pacific: Diverging national space legislation with regard   to the applicability of space law to suborbital flights
  • Current Developments in Space Law
  • Interactive Presentations
Young scholars are requested to submit their abstracts only within the first session, which is called the 9th Nandasiri Jasentuliyana Keynote Lecture on Space Law and Young Scholars.

This year’s IAA/IISL Joint Round Table session relates to legal issues relating to on-orbit servicing. Please note that the forum is for invited papers only and does not accept any abstracts.

With the increasing number of excellent papers every year, IISL now offers a poster session that is visited by all IAC participants. Authors who wish to present, but are not in a position to be personally present during the IAC/IISL Colloquium are invited to submit their abstracts to this session only. Authors of the abstracts submitted but not selected by the chosen session may be offered the alternative of submitting to the poster session. Please remember that the session chairs are responsible for final paper selection.

Finally, authors are reminded that the final papers must be uploaded prior to the conference, along with an oral presentation. Authors are notified about the outcome after final selection during the IAF Spring Meeting in March.

Deadline: 28 February 2017
