You Can Be a Giver

The writer of the book of Acts quotes a saying of Jesus not found in any of the gospels, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  In the next ten days we have an opportunity to give a gift to a Kids Street student by selecting the age or grade of a student to shop for, then phone the FPC coordinator of that age/class and learn what is on the wish list of a given female or male student.
FPC Coordinators:
Pre-k or Kindergarten students phone Gayle Paull:  696-1861 (c) or 829-1861 (h)
First or Second Grade students phone Nancy Boone: 544-4794
Third or Fourth Grade students phone Mary Rodgers: 326-1980
Fifth or Sixth Grade students contact Amy Bowen: 328-9133 or email Amy

After you know the desired gift, shop for it, then gift-wrap it with an identifiable tag, and deliver it to the church Sunday December 6 or 13 between 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  The Community Service Team will deliver the Angel Tree gifts to Kids Street who has planned a drive-through Christmas giveaway.

Church Directory
Pick Up Today!

We’ve scheduled a second Church Directory pick up from 1-3 PM today in the church parking lot.  You won’t need to get out of your car.  Also available are Advent resources:  Advent devotionals, wreath kits, and children’s advent calendars.

For those unable to come pick up their copy of the directory, we will make arrangements to distribute it to you in the coming weeks.

Good News for
Children’s Ministries

We are excited to announce that Session has hired Darcy Fluitt to serve as our Interim Children’s Ministries Director for 2021! In her 5+ years on staff at FPC as JUMP Coordinator, Darcy has demonstrated consistent leadership, passion for Christian education, and care for our families with young children. With her infectious enthusiasm, creativity, and love of teaching, we know Darcy will shine in her new role.
Darcy says, “I look forward to being the familiar face that welcomes our children back to church when it is safe to meet in 2021. Until then, I will lead the zoom small groups for elementary kids on Sunday morning and look for ways to serve and support families with young children in the upcoming new year.”
Darcy begins her new position effective January 1, 2021, serving 25 hours per week. Secondly, for the remainder of the school year in 2021, Club Paradise will be led by Shawna Rundstrom via zoom or until health restrictions permit us to meet in person.  We are grateful that both of these competent leaders, Darcy and Shawna, are able to continue investing in the lives of our children and their families.

Our spotlight continues to be on contemporary Black authors we read and discuss Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid. A New York Times Bestseller and finalist for the NAACP Image Award, Such a Fun Age is “an entertaining tale with plenty to say about race, human connection, and the pitfalls of good intentions.”

Such a Fun Age is a vivid page turner that is funny and readable while revealing the nuances of some important issues of our time.
