As we saw in the Active Living Census data, 1 in 10 Greater Bendigo House holds to not have enough food, with some areas increasing that number to 1 in 5.
Food Share give out food relief to around 90 local charities, community groups and schools to hand out food relief in the best way possible to their communities, this allows for the reduction of low income families and individuals feeling the stigma surrounding food insecurity.
Healthy Greater Bendigo caught up with Sam Kane; the Project Officer at YouFoods to talk about all the new and exciting things that Food Share have on the rise.
"We are excited to announce that our Grow a Row, Pick a Branch has received a boost to the program from UFS Pharmacies Bendigo! This partnership will see some fabulous initiatives created for the program starting with our Grow a Row Potato! 3 generous local businesses - UFS Pharmacies Bendigo, Bunnings Epsom and Bush's Produce Stores have together donated a HUGE 190 Kilograms of seed potato to be distributed to schools and kinders, community groups and keen home gardeners in Bendigo and surrounds." - Food Share Bendigo
