Settling into our new home
With the assistance of lovely volunteers who helped us to heave, shove, scrape, paint and scrub... we have now moved nearly all our equipment up to INTRA at 337-341 High Street, Rochester. Hurray!
INTRA is being set up as a charity, and aims to bring a multi-disciplinary arts programme and wonderful facilities to this neglected part of the Medway towns - between Rochester station and Chatham High Street.
The building has lots of character, our vintage work benches sit nicely with the wooden floored workspace at the entrance and we're looking forward to running courses here. You can spy Rochester Letterpress's beautiful 'Black Betty' platen press in the window.
Xtina Lamb has set up her studio Printed Wonders like a cabinet of curiosities with colourful tins, ephemera, haberdashery, vintage toys alongside Gocco & heat press equipment. Faye Lamb (no relation!) is bringing Unravel & Unwind to INTRA and will be hosting yarn craft and other creative workshops in her studio.
Medway Fine Printmakers have sent the etching press on a holiday to City Lit for a few weeks, but it will be returning to join us at INTRA in April. The Albion press will be installed on Monday and we hope to have open access up and running very soon.
The screen printing equipment is all in and assembled, we're just getting some plumbing finished and then that'll be open for business too.
