Medway Fine Printmakers have been busy this month, as we prepare for our move to the new building. So the news, (below) reflects the last activities in Boundary Wharf for now. There is still time to come and do some printmaking. The Wednesday Club is running until the 18th when we will be sharing some mince pies and mulled wine for the final day. As usual everyone is welcome....
See you there!
Bigger & Better
Plans are still in progress for moving into a bigger building with large shop front. Behind the shop will be the printmaking studios, an education space and our library of design and illustrated books. We're really excited by the possibilities, the nice toilets, wheelchair access, extra space and the warmth this will add to our facilities! We hope to open the shop for some days during December, in the meantime we've welcomed Kent University in to use the space..
I AM presents interim show
Third year Fine Art students from the University of Kent will be holding their exhibition in the new building and invite everyone to come and see their interim show. Bringing together the works of 42 upcoming artists I AM presents their approach to contemporary art, resulting in an exhibition of engrossing installations, evocative films and a diverse display of painting, photography and sculpture.
13th - 15th December 10am-5pm. 337-341 High st, Rochester.
Fred Wyver came down to run the first bookbinding workshop. Everybody who attended enjoyed it, and left with their own designs and eager to do more...so yes, we've asked him back in the New Year.
20:20 Print Exchange
We took part in this years 20:20 and it was a huge success. Every artist who took part received a box set of prints in return, from artists all around the UK. The standard of the prints was extremely high and many have already been framed as Xmas presents. As a winter 'fundraiser' the studio will be selling over 100 prints for £10 each at the forthcoming Rochester Flea on 14th December. http://www.therochesterflea.com/
