Trustee Training

An exciting new training program for North Carolina Community College Trustees will begin in January 2014.  Regional training sessions will be held across the state to discuss how trustees can more effectively impact student success and then develop a manual to use for future reference.   There will be a total of 19 sessions with 3-4 colleges attending each session, and we hope all trustees and presidents will attend.  Locations have been selected so that travel-time will be less than an hour.

This training program is made possible by the support and encouragement of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  The Foundation approached NCACCT about conducting this training because of the positive reputation that the trustees already have across the state.  This training is also expected to be a model for other states to replicate.

NCACCT Leadership Seminar 'Best Ever'

More than 275 community college trustees and presidents from across North Carolina attended the NCACCT Leadership Seminar held in Wilmington, September 4-6 .  The seminar included sessions for new trustees, information about the new training program for trustees sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and stories from two students who explained how their community college helped them achieve their dreams. (Pictured above are the students, Brian Pham (left) and Zaman Rashid.)  There was also information about North Carolina student success initiatives and four concurrent sessions that highlighted programs and issues impacting four specific colleges across the state.   Many participants said it was the best NCACCT seminar they have ever attended, and we welcome your feedback. Please e-mail us at info@ncacct.org with your comments.  Also, mark your calendar now for the NCACCT Law/Legislative Seminar, which will be held April 9-11, 2014, in Raleigh.  Click here to learn more:  http://ncacct.org/event/2014-ncacct-law-seminar/
