Rwanda has the 2nd best business environment in Africa

According to the 2014 Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG),  Mauritius, Rwanda and South Africa have Africa’s 3 best business environments - scoring 90, 79 and 78 out of 100 points respectively. Between 2009 and 2013, Rwanda’s business environment score rose by 14 points, making Rwanda the country with the most improved business environment in Africa, followed by Morocco which had a nine point gain. Regionally, Southern Africa leads Africa with a score of 55.6 which is higher than Africa’s average business enviroment score of 46.1.
Good infrastructure is a catalyst for business growth in any country. Between 2009 and 2013, levels of infrastructure development have improved in 65% of the 52 African countries covered by the IIAG. Four of the top five improvers achieved double-digit growth with South Africa (+12.9) and Kenya (+12.8) in first and second place. Overall, Seychelles has Africa’s most developed infrastructure followed by Mauritius and South Africa. Regionally, North Africa (50.3) leads the continent followed by Southern Africa (47.8).
