2016 news so far, hints, tips and plenty of information, plus an opportunity for you and your organisation to make a huge difference...

I hope 2016 is going well for you. 2015 ended with sessions in Leeds, Manchester, Guernsey, including a terrific evening with Guernsey PA Connect.  There were also webinars for Business Management Daily and the Cayman Islands.

So far this year there have been sessions in Manchester, London, Kuala Lumpur, Durham and Johannesburg (more about that shortly).

There have been webinars on speedwriting and business writing.  I presented "The World is your Oyster" to EUMA North West (photo on the right) and "Reinforce Positive Perceptions" for Pro Manchester PAs and presented a #adminchat for Executive Secretary Magazine, also on positive perceptions.

I have just returned to my desk after attending and speaking at Executive Secretary LIVE in Johannesburg (followed by a short holiday in Cape Town).... this was a sensational conference with inspiring speakers, wonderful location, fantastic events and amazing PAs from around Africa. The event and the country had a huge impact on everyone.

In particular I would like to tell you about Isipho, They strive to select, fund and prepare the best and brightest candidates and set them up for future success as PAs. Providing opportunities where none existed for young people in South Africa.   This year four ladies were awarded bursaries; here they are with the Isipho team:

And an unforgettable moment...

During a recent administrators' workshop, I was asked by an aspiring PA what I thought she should be doing to move from her current role into a PA role.

I suggested that building relationships was key to her progress. She should collaborate and learn from colleagues and managers and aim to be seen as a professional in her field.

I advised her to join networking groups for PAs such as EuMA in Europe or Behind Every Leader in the USA. It is also a good idea to take advantage of social networks such as LinkedIn.  There are hundreds of discussion groups for PAs and many opportunities for learning.

I suggested she subscribe to good quality PA magazines and, of course, attend any training opportunities she is offered or requests.

We also discussed the possibility of her finding a mentor to advise and inspire her.

Find out more about how you can become a truly effective PA.

I will also be speaking at these events in the UK:
  • The Meetings Show in London Wednesday 15 June
  • London Venues Summit Monday 4 July
Don't forget Executive Secretary LIVE in London too (8-9 April)

Lots more overseas events to come soon ...

We are always keen to add more people to our family of BakerWrite speedwriting trainers.  Do get in touch if you are interested ... no matter where in the world.
