Community resource package launched for Australian Food Safety Week 2016
 
There is just a month to go until the 20th Australian Food Safety Week to be held from 6 to 12 November 2016, This year’s theme is ‘Raw and risky’ foods following major food poisoning outbreaks in recent years linked to risky raw foods such as unpasteurized milk, raw eggs, bean/seed sprouts, frozen berries and lettuce.

Each year many events are held around Australia during Food Safety Week. Encourage your friends and colleagues to catch up with what is happening during Australian Food Safety Week 2016 by following us on twitter using the hashtag #FoodSafetyWeek, liking us on Facebook or subscribing to our mailing list.

There are a lot of things you can do in your area:
  • let people know about Food Safety Week in your newsletter and social media
  • hold a display in your local shopping centre, workplace, school or library
  • contact your local media to talk about food safety
  • run a food safety tips seminar
  • have a BBQ
  • set up a morning tea at work
  • take our Raw and risky food quiz (online and hard copies)
Use this example media release to publicise your event if it is public.

Register your event with us – it’s great to know what is happening.

Material for your event
You’ve told us you wanted new material to hand out during your Food Safety Week events and here they are ready to download and print out to A4 size: Handwashing poster for adults, Handwashing poster for kids and Temperature Danger Zone poster
You can also arrange to have them professionally printed yourself locally as a poster or fridge magnet – contact us at info@foodsafety.asn.au if you’d like a higher resolution copy of the artwork.

Thanks to our member Cater Care you can also order free copies of Food Safety Tips when taking food to an elderly friend or relative in aged care details about how to order them here

Poster/brochure and fridge thermometers mail out special offer
We can send you a box of our ‘How you cook can make you crook’ material containing approximately 150 posters and 300 brochures – all we ask is that you make a tax deductable donation to us to cover the cost of postage and handling for each box of $50 for Queensland, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and SA and $80 for WA and NT.

We also have fridge thermometers for sale at $3 each plus postage (minimum quantity 100)
